Program Associate – Evaluation
Reports To: Education Director
General Statement of Duties
The Program Associate duties include clerical support, data entry, mailings and archiving, risk reduction counseling, assisting walk-ins with general information about the STOP AIDS Project and general program support for the Outreach Department. This position requires a flexible schedule and strong personal and communication skills. Primary emphasis will be on tracking workshop participants and interviewing participants for program evaluation, including conducting focus groups and individual risk reduction counseling sessions.
Responsibilities
- Assist Health Education Risk Reduction (HERR) program and Positive Force with clerical support, including but not limited to maintaining supplies, photocopying, filing, and routine correspondence and mailings.
- Follow-up with participants from workshops, including emails, phone calls, and counseling sessions
- Data entry of behavioral risk assessments, evaluation forms, and assist with the reporting of all outreach and Positive Force contacts.
- Provides the Outreach team administrative and logistical support, including but not limited to day of event support, mailings, email and phone communication with volunteers, securing locations and maintaining supplies for community forums, workshops and social events.
- Present information to clinics and service providers about STOP AIDS programming
- Attend and take part in SF Pride, Folsom St. Fair and Castro St. Fair.
- Assist walk-ins with general information about the STOP AIDS Project.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree and /or 2 years experience in an administrative capacity in a community-based organization strongly recommended.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Strong people and phone skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work under deadlines.
- Experience with outreach and/or participant tracking preferred.
- Detail oriented and some familiarity with surveys/evaluation helpful.
- Comfort with multi-tasking and basic budgetary skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel; knowledge of Filemaker Pro and Access preferred.
- Accurate typing and data entry skills.
- Comfort with sexually explicit material and language.
- Dedication to and knowledge of HIV prevention and gay men's health issues.
- Knowledge of San Francisco's GLBT community preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations within the GBT community including age, race, income, and drug use, and HIV positive individuals
- Dedicated to working in and helping build a culture of anti-racism in the workplace and community
Hours
This is a regular, part-time, non-exempt position, which requires some evening and weekend work.

Development Associate
Rreports to: Development Director
General Statement of Duties
The Development Associate is primarily responsible for assisting the Development Director with STOP AIDS Project events, third party events, coordinating mail appeals and maintaining the donor database. In addition, the Development Associate assists the Communications Director with grant writing research, media support and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Coordination and support for the Project’s major fundraising events which currently consists of a Casino night held in October and the Dining Out for Life held the last Thursday of April.
- Coordinate and support the Project’s third party events and smaller fund raisers including bear busts in local bars.
- Support and maintain direct mail efforts and donor database.
- Produce and file donor acknowledgment letters.
- Provide administrative support to the Development Director for additional fund development activities that include major gifts solicitations, foundation and corporate grant research, event sponsorships and third party events.
- Provide administrative support to the Communications Director for additional fund development activities that include foundation and corporate grant research as well as some media duties that include working on a quarterly newsletter, faxing, follow-up calls, etc.
- Recruit and coordinate fundraising volunteers.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- BA or 2+ years fundraising and/or event coordination experience
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented.
- Excellent writing skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural setting.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate others and to be an effective team player.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time.

Compensation
$30K to $32K per year depending on education and experience. A generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 24 paid personal leave days per year (vacation/sick) and 12 paid holidays.

Program Director
General Statement of Duties:
The Program Director has overall responsibility for designing, implementing, managing and evaluating our prevention programs. Together with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Finance Director, Education Director and Development Director, this position completes the six-person Executive Committee that oversees all agency activities and implements the agency’s strategic plan.
The Program Director is responsible for supervising, training, motivating, and managing program staff, and maintaining relationships with government agencies and other CBO’s. The Program Director also takes a lead role in writing proposal requests and progress reports to government agencies and representing the agency in public. In conjunction with the Education Director, this position is also responsible for assuring that programs are based on up-to-date research, epidemiology, theory and community-organizing practice.
Reports to: Executive Director
Qualifications:
•Commitment to HIV prevention and grassroots organizing.
•Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field and/or related experience of at least three to five years in a leadership role in HIV prevention, health education and/or community organizing.
•Master’s Degree in Public Health strongly preferred.
•Experience in hiring and supervising staff and volunteers.
•Experience in program design and planning, including outreach, group work, and community organizing.
•Experience in process and outcome evaluation design and implementation.
•Experience in workshop development, facilitation and training.
•Experience in building and supporting an inclusive, multicultural agency environment.
•Excellent organizational skills.
•Excellent communication skills, including proposal writing, reporting, and public speaking.
•Ability to motivate others to be effective team players.
•Ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time.
Responsibilities:
•Serve on Executive Committee and other ad hoc committees as needed.
•Write monitoring reports for city contracts.
•Supervise 7-10 direct reports.
•Work with front-line staff to develop and implement individual workplans.
•Plan outreach schedule and manage relationships with CBO’s who utilize our mobile STD testing unit.
•Promote team-building, and plan and implement professional development activities for program staff.
•Engage and encourage strategic collaborations with other CBO’s.
•Plan and oversee weekly program staff meetings.
•Other duties as needed.
