Volunteers
Volunteers are an important part of the STOP AIDS Project. You can
say they are the backbone of the agency. They help run many of the
programs and conduct outreach in certain venues. We have volunteers
that help put on major fundraising events and also help staff in
the office doing many different types of jobs.
Outreach
Teams get together in different neighborhoods and venues
to engage gay and bisexual men in a discussion about their risk for
contracting or transmitting HIV and other STDs. Sometimes outreach involves
one-on-one discussions using our
survey. Other times outreach is about
assisting in creating ways to communicate HIV prevention to an entire
venue at the same time through art, wearing shirts with messages on,
or other activities.
Our
Love is the Black men's program of the STOP AIDS Project.
Created in 1999, Our Love offers many creative events, activities,
workshops, and out of town retreats. Guys talk about and take action
on specific topics and issues that we face as Black gay and bi
men. Your talent, connections, ideas and energy are welcome here.
Condoms
Now! is a program that distributes free condoms to
gay and bisexual men at more than 90 businesses throughout The
City. Since 1997, Condoms Now! gives away more than a million condoms
every year at bars, clubs, restaurants and store in the Castro,
Polk, and South of Market. STOP AIDS Project is the largest distributor
of free condoms in the nation.

Positive
Force is a prevention program created by and for HIV positive
gay and bi men of all colors and ages. Created in 1999, Positive Force,
along with the Positive Living For Us (PLUS) Seminar for persons newly
infected with HIV, provides support and a role in HIV prevention for
positive individuals.
Internet -
The internet is the "gay bath house of the new millennium."
This program promotes gay men's health through online activities and
strategies. At any given time hundreds of guys are posting or responding
to postings for hookin' up. There is whole world of possibilities to
help out online. Your experience, ideas, connections, and curiosity
is welcome here.
Gyms -
Gay and bi men go to the gym for more than just pumping iron. The gym
is a place to trade gossip, network, cruise and meet guys to take home
(or to the steam room). This makes gyms a great place to talk about
gay men's health, nutrition, and getting physical. Your ideas, connections,
and curiosity are welcome here.
Community
Forums, Workshops and Meetings bring together groups of
diverse gay and bisexual men to talk about a range of topics such
as oral sex, dating, speed use and self-esteem. Facilitated by trained
volunteers, these gatherings offer a safe environment to ask questions
about HIV transmission, discuss fears, get information, and develop
and support a community norm around safer sex.

Bars
and Clubs - Gather at the watering holes of the community
with this program. We have lots of fun ideas for activities, events,
art shows, performances and ways to talk to guys one-on-one in the bars
and clubs. Your connections, creativity, ideas and energy are welcome
here.
Leather
- Want an excuse to talk with that hot leather man or boy? Want to help
build activities and community among leather men? This is the program
for you. We do outreach and events at leather fairs, bars, clubs, and
on internet sites. Your ideas, connections, curiosity, and energy are
welcome here.
Public
Sex and Sex Clubs - From the wild outdoors to the dark mazes
this program does it all. If you like doing outreach and education in
hyper sexualized environments this is the place for you. We do our best
not to disrupt these environments for guys hooking up and have lots
of fun ideas for how best to make an impact. Your experience, ideas
and curiosity are needed here.
Media
Campaigns communicate health messages to a wider community
of gay and bisexual men. In collaboration with other health agencies
in San Francisco, recent campaigns have addressed the needs and concerns
for African American and Latino gay and bisexual men, young men and
crystal methamphetamine users.
