Are you in a relationship with someone who
has a different HIV status? Have you ever wanted to meet other
couples in your situation?
Magnetic Love may be just the thing for
you.
|
We will meet
to discuss topics such as: communication, sex, medication, disclosure
to friends and family, open relationships, end of life issues and more.
What is Magnetic
Love?
There are two main goals for the Magnetic Love program: One is
to provide a comfortable space for couples to talk about the
things that may be different for them as it relates to one partner
having HIV and one partner being HIV-negative. The second is
to provide a social network of couples so that they may develop
friendships, and additional support as a result.
How it works....
Magnetic Love support and discussion groups are led by two facilitators.
One is a licensed therapist who has worked with gay couples,
especially those that are in serodiscordant relationships and
the other is the Positive Force Program Manager.
|
Topics are determined by the group. The
following are some of the common topics:
- Coping with uncertainty
- Shifts in emotional intimacy
- Impact on sexuality
- Disclosure issues
- Trust Issues of mistrust and betrayal
- Feeling isolated
After support and discussion groups, you
are invited (and very much encouraged) to come along to the social/networking
get-together. Social/networking get-togethers are generally held on
a quarterly basis.
