Magnetic Love

magnetic love

Are you in a relationship with someone who has a different HIV status?  Have you ever wanted to meet other couples in your situation?

Magnetic Love may be just the thing for you.

We will meet to discuss topics such as: communication, sex, medication, disclosure to friends and family, open relationships, end of life issues and more.

What is Magnetic Love?

There are two main goals for the Magnetic Love program: One is to provide a comfortable space for couples to talk about the things that may be different for them as it relates to one partner having HIV and one partner being HIV-negative. The second is to provide a social network of couples so that they may develop friendships, and additional support as a result.

How it works....
Magnetic Love support and discussion groups are led by two facilitators. One is a licensed therapist who has worked with gay couples, especially those that are in serodiscordant relationships and the other is the Positive Force Program Manager.

Topics are determined by the group. The following are some of the common topics:

  • Coping with uncertainty
  • Shifts in emotional intimacy
  • Impact on sexuality
  • Disclosure issues
  • Trust Issues of mistrust and betrayal
  • Feeling isolated

After support and discussion groups, you are invited (and very much encouraged) to come along to the social/networking get-together. Social/networking get-togethers are generally held on a quarterly basis.
