4 Ways to Volunteer

No matter how much time you have or where you are in life, you can make a difference. To volunteer in any of the following four areas, contact Erika Molina, Volunteer Coordinator at 415.575.0747 or email her at emolina@stopaids.org.

1) Help us with Outreach
Get out and help out at your favorite nightspots! Volunteers go out with staff to bars, clubs, gyms, parks, sex clubs and other hot spots to take the pulse of the community, pass out safer sex supplies and have individual conversations with gay, bi & trans men about their sexual health.

Shifts: Shifts are 2-3 hours
You can go out as often as you like

Before you start: Volunteer Orientation
Outreach Volunteer Training or shadow outreach workers

2) Lend a hand with Program Support
Join other community members and The STOP AIDS staff to guide HIV prevention efforts specific to diverse populations of gay, bi, and trans men in San Francisco. Give input to make our programs look like you want them. Got a suggestion for workshop topic? How about a new bar or event that we should visit during outreach

Shifts: Variable
Before you start: Volunteer Orientation

3) Pitch in with Special Events & Fundraising
Enjoy party planning and entertaining? Like the glamour of gala events? Want create your own fundraising extravaganza?  We’d love your help with one of our many fundraisers each year, like Dining Out for Life, Bar AIDS and Queens Are Wild. And we always need help during the Summer Street Fair season.

It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, attend fabulous parties, and see the results of your work almost immediately.

Shifts: Varies, depending on event usually 2-5 hours an event
Before you start: Ambassador Training for Dining Out for Life & Bar AIDS

Other event training may be required per event

4) Donate your Talents to Office & Clerical Support
We rely on volunteers to staff the majority of our day-to-day administrative needs. We always need people to answer phones, help with faxing and copying, assembling condom packets, and preparing mailings. Put your clerical skills to use or develop skills for future use!

Shifts:

Our regular office volunteers help
at one or more days a week

Condom stuffing and mailings happen throughout the year

Before you start: Volunteer Training as well as
"on the job" trainin
